Love of wisdom (philos) and beloved (sophia)
The word "philosophy" comes from two Greek words, meaning "love of wisdom". φίλος (philos) adj. "beloved" + σοφία (sophia) fem. noun "wisdom". There are different types of philosophy from different times and places.
