What did Santa Anna feel confident that the Texans wouldent attack

Santa Anna knew the Mexican army was tired from marching so while the Texan army had the time they ate, bathed, rested, etc. so they were back to full energy and started to fire cannons at the Mexican army. The Mexican army was caught off guard and ran to their spots but the unprepared Mexicans lost the battle in about 30 minutes.
